Mr. President

You might have heard, but yesterday the first black president of the United States was Voted in yesterday, in a descisive Electoral victory, and a 3 point popular vote. Barak Obama, ladies and Gentleman, in now our official President Elect. This is indeed a historic day, and the begining of a very interesting four years. Obama said in his acceptance speech that he would 'tackle the nation’s broken economy, fight off global threats and support soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.' Whether or not this means that he will or will not be withdrawling troops from Iraq has yet to be seen. A very interesting four years indeed...

All I can say is...HELL YEAH!!! This is by far the greatest thing to happen to this country in a long time and I am so happy that I was able to follow the entire campaign. This election is monumental in that it has completed the complete transfer of power from the republican party to the democratic party. The effect of this election will be felt for a long time to come, especially if the democrats do a good job with their power, because it has left the GOP virtually powerless and looking to recover. Barack Obama has lived the ultimate American Dream. I wish him luck as he enters office.

Don't want to get ahead of myself here, but the kind folks at NBC News were discussing the future of the GOP...apparently, in deciding between going hardcore and redefining the party, Bobby Jindal of Lousianna is a potential candiate for 20XZ.

An african-america president followed by an Indian one!! The possibility of this makes my eyes moisten!

I cant wait for Obama to take power so all of America can see what he's made of. I belive that Obama will disprove all the prejudices that had been created about him during the election. He's not a communist... he's not a terrorist... and he does love America.

Overall, I think just the fact that Obama is our president elect will have an effect on the economy, for with new hope comes new trust.

I know that this is not the only reason to support a president...but a big plus for Obama is that he recognizes that US's information technology systems are decrepit.

In the article linked to below, it is said that Obama is looking for a national CTO (chief technology officer), so the US government's systems are modern, safe, and secure.

This is of utmost importance considering how cyber-warfare is becoming increasingly prevalent. (Cough cough Estonia)

Wouldn't it be great if Obama becomes a military cheiftain and expands the pentagon's cyber-warfare capabilities substantially? That would be amazing!!

Obama is right to call on Bush to help rebuild the nation's automaking industry. GM stocks are at the same price that they were in 1946 and American automakers are feeling the full weight of the economy's troubles. I'm surprised that Bush doesn't recognize this. While the bailout must go to main street, at least some needs to go to the major automakers.
